Kevin and WendyI’ve been involved in the health and wellness industry for over 6 years. The decision to follow my true passion was one that I have thoroughly enjoyed and can’t image doing anything else. I am an AFAA certified personal trainer. I work in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC and am part owner of Plank Fitness, Asheville’s own premier, private personal training studio. I love designing fitness programs for people that keep them interested and inspired to do more.

My Philosophy

There’s more to losing weight than working out in the gym three times a week.  There’s more to truly conquering the weight loss battle than running on a treadmill for an hour.  I believe in solid, scientifically proven, tried and true methods of losing weight and that is through diet and exercise.  By diet I mean what you eat and by exercise I mean creating a caloric deficit and developing lean muscle.  This is not the fastest way to lose weight but it is the safest way and the only way to ensure lifelong weight loss.  I believe the right attitude can make all the difference in the world when trying to lose weight.  Negative talk will only produce negative action whereas positive talk will only produce positive action.  The more you envision yourself where you want to be and sooner you’ll see positive changes in your life.

Just to lay out the basics; eat a diet full of foods that are as close to the natural food source as possible, i.e. lean meats and dairy products, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.  Do some sort of aerobic exercise such as walking, jogging, swimming, or biking for at least 30-45 minutes two to three times a week.  You need to be working out hard enough to barely be able to carry on a conversation for the whole 30-45 minutes.  Include a 5 minute warm-up and cool down then stretch when you’re done.  Either on the same days or on different days there needs to be a strength training regiment.  Strength training consists of resistance training either with machine, resistance bands, body weight, or free weights.  Each workout needs to targets the major muscle groups of the body.

This is just scratching the surface of true weight loss.  Throughout this site you’ll find detailed information about every one of these areas of weight loss so you too can achieve and obtain the quality of life you desire.

Hi, I saw somewhere that you do boot camp classes too. I’ve lost over 70 lbs and really need help with the last 50 as well as body toning and sculpting. I’m trying to do this on my own but I think I need help and direction. Can you give me an idea on the cost of your boot camp and when? Thanks!

      Hi Kara,

Way to go on your 70 pound weight loss! Boot camp could be a great way for you to reach your goal. The classes are only $10 a class this year but in 2011, in two days the prices are going up to $12.50 a class. The classes are on-going and we run them either two or three days a week; Monday, Wednesday, Friday (6:15am or 8:15am) or Tuesday, Thursday (only 8:15am). Let me know which one you’d like to do. We look forward to seeing you.

I was wondering what the prices are for the one-on-one training? And the partner training. Thanks!

      Hi Nicole,

Thanks for inquiring about personal training. Every program that we design is based on each individual need of the client. Every program is different and specific to that person. Because of that it’s unfair to give you an umbrella of prices. The way we can determine just what kind of program will work best for you is for you to come in for a consultation (free of charge). Then we’ll discuss your health history, determine your current fitness level, talk about nutrition, your goals and possibly a cardio program. Let me know when you’d like to come in. I look forward to hearing from you.
