There’s more to losing weight than working out in the gym three times a week. There’s more to truly conquering the weight loss battle than running on a treadmill for an hour. I believe in solid, scientifically proven, tried and true methods of losing weight and that is through diet and exercise. By diet I mean what you eat and by exercise I mean creating a caloric deficit and developing lean muscle. This is not the fastest way to lose weight but it is the safest way and the only way to ensure lifelong weight loss. I believe the right attitude can make all the difference in the world when trying to lose weight. Negative talk will only produce negative action whereas positive talk will only produce positive action. The more you envision yourself where you want to be and sooner you’ll see positive changes in your life.
Just to lay out the basics; eat a diet full of foods that are as close to the natural food source as possible, i.e. lean meats and dairy products, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Do some sort of aerobic exercise such as walking, jogging, swimming, or biking for at least 30-45 minutes two to three times a week. You need to be working out hard enough to barely be able to carry on a conversation for the whole 30-45 minutes. Include a 5 minute warm-up and cool down then stretch when you’re done. Either on the same days or on different days there needs to be a strength training regiment. Strength training consists of resistance training either with machine, resistance bands, body weight, or free weights. Each workout needs to targets the major muscle groups of the body.
